 I have another day off today so I can take Jason to his first day of school.  San Francisco is finally "hot".  A bit too hot yesterday...but of course it'll be cooling down tomorrow... 

dynamo donuts & giveaway winners

First off let me announce the winners of the handmade book giveaway.  I had another book that I had left over from our craft fair at work so I pulled two names.  I should say my kids pulled the names. One Saturday I woke up early to pick up Dynamo Donuts.  My husband made a list of what to get based off of their site but when I got there, they listed what they had available that day.  Of course we got their siganature donut, the maple glazed bacon.  We also got the vanilla bean, lemon pistacio, milk chocolate passionfruit, and chocolate almond. 

My son loves bacon but when I preseneted the maple bacon donut, he said "What's that?" -I said "Bacon! You love bacon!"  He said "...but not on my donuts!"....and gave the donut a disgusting look.  He had to settle for the vanilla bean which I thought tasted like a regular donut.  The maple bacon donut is good and of course, has to be eaten fresh.  The others were good too but I think if you're expecting a regular donut taste these aren't the ones.  My husband liked the maple bacon but with the other flavors, he said he prefers Krispy Kreme.  To each his own... 

Taking pieces of each one so we wouldn't get sick eating a whole donut at a time...

My little girl, not so little anymore, starts preschool today! Taking the day off so I can bring her on her first day! 

handmade books - and giveaway

I was making a couple handmade books bound with the coptic stitch for gifts.  One is for my niece who is going away to college and one is for my cousin's birthday who takes conversational French classes.  So I personalized them with their names and the type of notebook: "french notes" and "music notes".

 
I have one to giveaway so if you leave a comment I'll randomly pick a name at the end of next week (let's say next Saturday) and send it along to the lucky winner. It's a "things to note" book, the cover made with St. Armand paper and filled with ivory text paper. 

We'll be going on vacation soon with the kiddies before school starts.  It'll be a nice time away from work...and before homework starts up again...

After seeing this post from Wikstenmade I fell in love with the hat.  I e-mailed the store and was able to buy the yarn and get the pattern for free.  I made an adult size hat modeled by Ava.  I bought a pink/gray yarn also for a hat that will fit Ava but I haven't started that yet.  The weather in San Francisco has been cold...it's normal but it's been colder than usual.
