wip - knitted babe

I bought the kit last year and only now have started to almost complete it.  It does look scary at this stage, doesn't it?  My son is scared of it for sure.  It should look better once I add hair and put clothes on... See more here.  I am now in the mood for knitting again...

Here is my "sew i knit" project.  I just made a simple hot pad - same instructions as a quilt but smaller.  Here are my pictures step by step.  I did this while the baby was in her bouncer and since I had limited time I didn't iron at all.  I think it came out okay...a bit sloppy but okay. I quilted straight lines across - a simple design.

Working on invitations for my aunt's big party -- they need to be mailed out next Tuesday.  I'm hoping to finish tonight w/ the help of my sister and sister-in-law.

My mom was looking for pictures for her party and here is one that she has that was taken in the 1960's.  My mom is the one on the left wearing the glasses with my dad and my aunt is the one on the right with her husband. My aunt is pregnant in this picture.

Here's another picture of my mom on her wedding day with my aunt.  She got married the day after Christmas so that's why the color green.

bay bread

Nothing crafty -- just a couple pictures of more sweets from Bay Bread.  I had to go to Paper Source on Fillmore to buy some invitation supplies for my aunt's 65th b-day and retirement party.

Their new french macaroon box now accomodates not 6 but 7 pieces.  I bought all chocolate this time.  I noticed they're not as sweet as the other ones.

So last Saturday I finally had the "sweets" party that I said I would have here.  My sister kind of put things together with my sister-in-law and cousin - from putting together the invitations and asking/telling people what to bring.  (It was a potluck) -- there was just so much food but I didn't take pictures quite of everything but here are some of the highlights...  Anne brought me this cake from here and made the cookie favors (dress cookies with a flower and sash).  I had my Guava Cake fix (thanks Anne!).

I ordered origami paper from Kumi and along with the package she sent Jason a japanese children's book.  Thanks Kumi!

My cousin also stopped by yesterday and gave me a belated birthday gift!  She also gave my sister one.  I love the wrapping.

I can't believe how fast one month has gone by.  My husband bought a little dessert to celebrate Ava's 1st month.

I'm still trying to figure out who she looks like.  Babies' faces change all the time. Here is a picture of my son at one month next to Ava at one month...my son's face changed a lot his first year so I'm sure Ava's will too... (do you see any similiarities?)...
