mango bread and origami

Last Friday I made some mango bread.  My cousin-in-law bought a whole box of mangoes.  I used the recipe from this book:

I also pulled out a couple origami books and folded these:

I haven't been out of the house a lot.  The nursing thing and the heat keep me from going out but on Sunday I went to target w/ my 3 year old.  He behaved perfectly well on our outing...and the only thing he wanted from the store was "Cheetos" -- his favorite chips.  I picked up the necessities and some goodies from Ayomi Yoshida.  Target is selling some of her stuff for a limited time.  I picked up the cranes (even though I do know how to make them), wrapping paper, and gift cards.

I'm working on annoucements for Ava - with cardstock and envelopes from Paper Source. I actually bought them when I was still pregnant- knowing I probably wouldn't have time after to go to the store later on.

I joined Leslie of Rubber-Sol - In My Life chronicle of a day...pictures that represent my day...  I chose yesterday, 7/22. 

First picture-- my son Jason playing fishy frenzy on the computer -- early in the morning...(though he's copying me, taking his picture).

Evening: time for sleep -- Jason falls asleep early - there's a bit of a heat wave in San Francisco so it's the first time in awhile he sleeps in "short" pajamas and doesn't want any blankets on him...

My mom enrolled my son in a 10 day art class at the park in our neighborhood.  Here are a couple of his first art projects...a lantern...and a drawing.

Here's a picture of a "list" he made on lined paper.  He was copying my sister-in-law make a list for our take-out food order.  It was amazing how he kept inside the lines.

My sugar party is in the works -- actually my sister, sister-in-law, and cousin worked on invitations since I'm taking care of a newborn...It will be in the beginning of August.  I'm sure there will be lots of sugar overload...

So today was my first shopping trip alone.  I had about 1 hour and 45 minutes until I had to nurse again so I told my husband I was going to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (started today).  I picked up the Bobbi Brown cosmetic kit - I think mainly because of the mini eyeliner brush, eye shadow and case.  When I was on maternity leave w/ my first son I was watching the Today Show and they were raving about the bobbi brown gel eyeliner and how it lasts long, doesn't smear, etc.  So I tried it and now am a loyal fan of the stuff.  If you haven't tried it, you'll love it.  I've turned my sister and sister-in-law into loyal fans too.

I also planned to buy these shoes (from the anniversary sale catalog) - but they didn't have my size 6 in black.  They told me on Monday they would call me b/c they won't do transfers until then.  My feet didn't grow as they say they do when you become pregnant.  The 6 1/2 was way too big and the 5 1/2 was a bit too small.  I tried the 6 in brown and they fit perfect but I really want the black ones.  I could actually do the online thing but I'd rather not pay for shipping.

I can't really buy clothes yet b/c I'm waiting to get to pre-pregnancy size so shoes are good for now =)

It's a quiet house right now...the baby is sleeping and the husband took our toddler to the zoo.

Thanks for all the well wishes and congratulations for baby Ava -- So far the past two weeks have been okay despite having a sick husband and a sick toddler.  My parents helped a lot.

Well here's a simple crafty thing I did just yesterday.  My friend's child is turning 1 and I made her labels for favors for her son's first birthday.  I made one for my son when he turned one and before I even had a child I made one for Anne's daughter when she turned 1. This was an idea from my sister's friend.  I used photoshop for this.

So I finally gave birth.  I was induced on Friday 6/30 but didn't deliver until 7/1 at 1:39 in the monring.  The whole labor/inducing thing took forever but the pushing only took about 10-15 minutes.  Towards the end, my contractions were just pushing her out on her own.  Introducing baby Ava... 7 lbs and 19 3/4 inches.
