I gave birth to this little boy...how fast they grow...

The picture was taken here w/ Pepe Le Pew.  Jason had no idea who he was but later in the day he said "Mommy, where's my picture with the skunk?"  I didn't even know he knew what a skunk was...haha!  Lots of party planning to do for this Saturday...

Also quick post on a real instant gratification knitting project...

thanksgiving --

I hope everyone had a good one.  Turkey day is now  officially over.  We went to my aunt's house for dinner and everyone brought a little something. I made this macaroni and cheese. It was good but it is an expensive dish...using sharp white cheddar and gruyere cheese.

I also did some Martha Stewart time saving tips.  Pre-meaure your dry ingredients in ziplocs and when you're ready, just mix your wet ingredients. I got these colorful baggies from Ikea.

...and just to share a photo of girlie shoes I got for Ava from Target.

My son's first day of preschool is today.  I took the day off for the occasion.  I wanted to stay a bit but they said the longer I stay, the harder it is for the kid.  Jason was on the verge of tears and so was I when I left...then I heard him really bawl when the door closed behind me....My co-workers warned me about crying. My kiddies are growing up.

Happy Friday all!

party pictures

Ava's party went well.  It was sunny but a bit too windy.  All the party preparation plus the weather got me and the kiddies sick.  I'm home with a cold and tons of coughing.  Ava's not too bad but Jason sounds just like me.  Here are some pictures:

party planning

Ava's 1st birthday is tomorrow! Her birthday party is next Saturday. Tons to do. I got this pineapple pinata today. I have to fill this up with goodies.

I made labels for an m&m favor.  I couldn't save enough gerber jars because most of Ava's baby food was in those plastic containers.  I tried buying on ebay but this one person who was selling them did not have the lids.  So I figure I would just buy plastic jars from Uline and make an m&m label.  I purchased dark pink and light pink m&m's from here.  I'll post pictures of the final favor once I'm done. I really wanted to do these again though.

invite design

So I took the day off as well as Monday.  We get to take our birthday off at work. Mine is tomorrow which means another year older. Anyway, I went to Paper Source today to get paper and envelopes for Ava's 1st Birthday invitations.  I designed the invite last night and then sent to Ritz to print and now they're done.  I just have to attach to the cardstock and make labels.

Here is what I designed.  The part where it's hot pink is where all the information goes (time, date place, etc):

Not as much work as my son's when he turned one.  I did eyelets and stickers with his.

Have a good weekend!

this weekend

I was on vacation from Wednesday until today. I go back to work tomorrow.  I didn't do much on the weekdays but on the weekend I did some stuff.  I went to the Vivienne Westwood Exhibit at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.  She inpires me to want to learn to sew clothes.  I like her later collection.

Today I sewed this bag:

This is the bag reversed:

The tutorial is from Nancy of Belle Epoque - click on her link and you get all the information you need to make the tote.  It's very easy.  It was my first time sewing with bias tape so my work is a bit messy.  I need to practice. I used brown linen with interfacing for the outside and natural linen for the lining. The next thing I want to try is her tie top tank. It looks like a cool top for summer.

Yesterday, we also went to a nephew's birthday party at Malibu - not much for the little ones but this is how my son plays skeeball:

I've been tagged for a meme - I promise to answer in my next post.
