pictures of food...

My high school friends are trying to organize a reunion.  Six of us met up a few weeks ago for a meeting/get-together at Fresca in Noe Valley.  It was more like catch-up than planning though. Lots of talking about the past and what we're all doing now. We were there for 4 hours!  Food was delicious and so was dessert:

On the way home I bought some cupcakes for the kiddies.  Practiced some tabletop photography before we ate them:

Cupcake3 Also took pictures of my favorite spring rolls from Out the Door.  It was for Nicole's class.

She wanted us to take a picture as if we were styling a cover for a magazine :

I modeled my picture after Sunset Magazine.

threads + wares

This past weekend I went to the Threads + Wares event.  Carol Gilbert of Yorktown Road sent me a postcard about this event.  I bought one of her lovely textured bags. This is the bag I got.

Before I arrived at her booth, I found a vintage Issey Miyake top. I couldn't belive the price so I snatched it.  This is how it looks:

It comes with this bag to store and keep the pleats of the piece.

a candle and some tea towels

I'm home alone enjoying some peace and quiet and also getting some things done.  The husband and kids went to a picnic away from the city with family since I already had plans with one of my cousins.  We went to Perch for some quick shopping.  I bought a couple of things for the home: linen tea towels with a brown flower print by Flowie  and and lovely home fragrance candle from LAFCO.  The French lilac scent is light and refreshing. It burns for more than 70 hours and once it's done, you can use the glass, which is hand made and unique from all others, for cold drinks, pencils, flowers, etc.  We had planned for some pizza at Gialina but they don't open until 5:00 p.m. today.  We went to La Corneta next door instead.

I've yet to post about Paris which I will do in days since I feel it would be too much for one post to write everything...so stay tuned =)

shopping...hayes valley

Today my sister and I went shopping in Hayes Valley.  Our main store to go to was Flight 001.  We're going on a trip...a trip to PARIS!!!...next month in April.  I'm going with my sister, my cousin from Hawaii, and Anne.   The store was having a 50% sale off the flight 001 brand products.  I picked up just a few things.

I picked up a blue converse pair from HUF  - not for the trip but just because of the color.  I plan to bring my gray ones though.  I've been told from a co-worker and reading on sites  about Paris that they do wear  them.

We also went to Cotton Sheep.  They were having a 50% off sale on select items and I got a scarf made in Japan - woven - 100% wool - but it looks and feels like cotton.

Brown

We ate here  for lunch since Stacks was full.  For dessert we went to Paulette's.

_MG_7103Anne told me about this store opening in San Francisco.  Very good macaroons!!!

accessories for a wedding...

This past weekend my husband's cousin got married.  My husband and I and Jason had a part in the wedding.  We were the veil sponsors and Jason carried the bible in the wedding. I haven't had a new dress in a long time.  I've worn dresses over and over to weddings and it was about time to get a new one.  I found this one on a sale rack and got the dress at over 60% discount.  Now that's what I call a deal!

creating and shopping

I haven't done too much crafting but I did make more pop up birthday cards for my aunt and twin nephews.  I also designed a couples shower card too in photoshop.

_MG_4294 _MG_4292 My cousin and I discovered a store which is a 10 minute walk from where we live.  It's called Perch.  It has miscellaneous things.  You can read about it in the link.  I bought some wine bags which were on sale for $1 and a shoe bag.  I know I could of made the shoe bag myself but I don't have time right now.

another birthday...

Another birthday gone...it was yesterday...I took the day off from work.  During the day I wound a ball of yarn with the help of my son...and then a chair:

I got some new shoes in the mail:

I saw gray ones at Wiksten but I could only find the black ones in my size.

I also had dinner with the husband at Farallon wearing my new black shoes. They're very comfortable.

It was a good day.

heath ceramics

I finally went to Heath Ceramics in Sausalito.  I've been wanting to go for awhile so when I received the postcard in the mail about their open studio sale I figured that would be a good time to go.  My sister and I did browsing, picking up and putting back but finally made a decision on what to get.  Here are the pieces I got:

I'm so glad we went.  It's hard to pick because you want everything.  It was crowded because of the open studio sale but it was nice seeing the owners.  There was an article about them in the newspaper the other day.
