knitting and jinkyart

I've been knitting scarves. The green one is for me.  It's an interesting pattern.  The pattern is on one side though so it's not really reversible; the other side is just a regular garter stitch.

Pattern is from here.

I'm also knitting my co-worker a cable scarf that shows the pattern on both sides.  I like this one.  I got the pattern from Art Fibers.  Very easy to knit.  If you haven't learned cables I think this one is a great project to learn it.

A couple months ago Barb of Jinkyart came to the US to take pictures.  She took some photos of the the kids and a few family pictures.  We're actually featured in her portfolio. I'm sure you'll recognize my kids.  She just updated her site.  It was fun and she's really down to earth.  Take a look.

san diego

We're back.  We went to Legoland, Sea World and the San Diego Zoo.  It was tiring...the drive and all but fun. Here are some pictures:

Jason was scared to ride quite a few rides but gladly rode this one.

Star Wars lego for Jason (not age appropriate but he wanted it).  Did I tell you that a couple months ago my sister gave him age inappropriate lego and he put one of those tiny ones in his nose?  It was scary but once it was safely out, you had to laugh.

Jason eating a shortbread brownie from Extraordinary Desserts.  I must say that was one of my highlights of the trip.

I'm glad we're home. The heat was getting to me.  I think I would rather go through security in an airport than drive.  Coming home was fine but going there we hit traffic and it took 11 hours.

sewing and knitting

So I finally finished my tie top tank.  Yay!  It's very easy but it took me awhile to finish because the kids needed attention and I could only do so much at a time.  I'm sure if I just had a couple hours to myself I would have finished faster. Nancy told me how to fix it if I wanted a higher neckline.  She told me basically just to add a couple more inches to the top and it worked.  I used a medium weight linen and the tie straps are made of the same material as well as the bias tape.  I think I made it flair too much but I like it and if I had time I would have made another one for my trip to San Diego next week.

Since we're going to San Diego next week, I'll be working on this.  We'll be driving and not flying.  This is how far I am:

Hopefully I at least finish the back part of the jacket.

This was gifted by my sister.  She's great! She's always buying me things. This is a

Kosta Boda piece, designed by Kjell Engma (and it's my favorite color...slate blue)!

Well everyone...have a good weekend!
